Describe Style
Definition:
Natural light photography is photography that relies solely on the light that exists naturally, without the use of artificial lighting equipment.
Example:
If you're taking a photo outside in the sun, using only the available sunlight, that's natural light photography.
Contrast:
Natural light photography is the opposite of artificial light photography, which involves using equipment like flash, strobes, or continuous studio lights to illuminate the subject.
Available Light:
The term "available light" is often used interchangeably with natural light in photography, referring to the light that's present in the environment.
Advantages:
Natural light can be very flattering and creates a natural, organic look, according to Louise Rose Photography.
Challenges:
It can be more challenging to control than artificial light, and the quality of the light can change depending on the weather, time of day, and location
Here's a breakdown of the key elements that contribute to the "white and airy" look:
1. Brightness and Light:
Emphasis on Light: These photos prioritize light, creating an overall bright and luminous feel.
Overexposed Look: They may have a slightly overexposed appearance, where the brighter areas of the image appear very bright, and some detail might be lost in those highlights.
2. Soft Colors and Tones:
Muted Color Palette: "White and airy" photos often feature soft, pastel, and muted colors rather than vibrant or saturated hues.
Warm or Cool Tones: The overall tone can lean towards warm (slightly creamy or golden) or cool (leaning slightly blue), depending on the photographer's style and post-processing.
Emphasis on Whites: White and light-colored elements in the scene, like clothing, backgrounds, or props, play a significant role in enhancing the bright, airy feel.
3. Even Lighting and Soft Shadows:
Soft, Diffused Light: The style often utilizes soft, even light, minimizing harsh shadows and contrast.
Flat Lighting: This reduces the appearance of harsh shadows and creates a softer, more flattering look, particularly in portraits.
4. Subject and Background:
Clean and Simple: "White and airy" photography often features simple backgrounds and minimal distractions, helping the subject stand out.
Open Spaces: Shooting in well-lit, open spaces can further enhance the bright and airy feeling.
In essence, "white and airy" photography aims to create images that feel light, fresh, romantic, and ethereal. This style is popular in various genres, especially wedding, newborn, and portrait photography

MODEL CONTRACT
I can see that the text is a release agreement for photographs taken by a photographer or their assistant. The agreement states that all photos and images taken by the Photographer or their assistant are the sole, copyrighted, intellectual property of the Photographer and that the Model agrees to release any personal or proprietary interest in the photos. The Photographer may reproduce, use and distribute the photos for any personal, business, marketing or studio purposes.
As the Model, you agree to release the Photographer, their heirs, legal representatives, licensees, assignees, and any person or entity acting under the Photographer's permission or authority from any claims and liability related to the photographs, including for libel or violation of any right of publicity or privacy. You also waive any right to copyright interest, royalties, or other compensation, except as agreed above.
You understand and agree that the photographs will become the Photographer's property and that the Photographer has the right to do with the photographs as they see fit. The Photographer and their successors have the right to edit, alter, copy, make use of, exhibit, display, perform, modify, publish, use, re-use, republish, alter, distort, create composites with, and create derivative works of the photographs, without limitation or restriction and in any form or medium now or later known. You waive any right to inspect or approve of any finished product involving the photographs.
You also understand that the Photographer and their successors may use the photographs for commercial purposes, including advertising and promotions. You waive any rights, claims or interest you may have to control the use of your identity or likeness in the photographs, and you will not prosecute or institute proceedings, claims, or demands against either the Photographer or their successors regarding any usage of the photographs.
Finally, you represent that you are at least 18 years of age and authorized to enter into this agreement. You have carefully read this agreement and fully understand its meanings and implications.
IN THE UNLIKELY EVENT
In the unlikely event that digital files are lost, stolen, or destroyed due to reasons beyond control, such as camera, hard drive, or equipment malfunction, our liability will be limited to returning all payments received for the event(s). For a partial loss of originals, the liability limit will be a prorated amount of the exposures lost based on the percentage of the total number of originals. We will not be liable for the loss of images beyond the lesser of the final delivery of all products included in the package or one year.
In the event that the Photographer is unable to fulfill this Agreement due to reasons beyond their control, such as sudden illness, injury, lost equipment, or natural disasters, the Photographer will return all retainers and fees to the Client(s). However, the Photographer will not be liable for any further damages under this Agreement. If any photographic materials are damaged during processing, lost due to camera malfunction, lost in transit, or damaged in any other way, which makes the photographic material unusable, without the fault of the Photographer, the Photographer will return all retainers and fees, but shall not be liable for any other injuries. In any case, regardless of the circumstances, the Photographer shall not be held liable for consequential, emotional, third-party, punitive, or any other damages, including attorney’s fees, resulting from the Photographer's services or lack thereof. The Photographer’s liability shall be limited to the price of this Agreement.
In case of a disastrous occurrence outside the control of either party, such as a natural disaster, war, invasion, act of foreign enemies, embargo, hostility, hazardous situation, or national pandemic, either party may choose to be excused of any further performance obligations.
If we cannot or will not perform our obligations in any or all parts of this agreement, we will immediately give notice to the client via the notice provisions detailed in this agreement. We will issue a refund or credit based on a reasonably accurate percentage of services already rendered and excuse the client of any further performance and/or payment obligations in this agreement.
IN THE EVENT PHOTOGRAPHER CANNOT PERFORM
If the photographer is unable to perform due to foreseeable illness, conflict, or any other reasons, the client agrees to allow the photographer to assign and delegate the performance and obligations of this agreement to another professional photographer, as deemed fit by the photographer. If the session cannot take place due to the photographer's inability to perform, the photographer is not obligated to service a later session.

POSTPONEMENT POLICY
A postponement policy in photography outlines the procedures and fees associated with rescheduling a photoshoot or event. It's crucial to have a clear policy to protect your business and manage expectations with clients. This policy should address situations like client requests to postpone, weather-related postponements, or other unforeseen circumstances.
Here's a breakdown of key elements for a postponement policy:
1. Client-Initiated Postponements:
Timeframes:
Define how much notice is required for a postponement to avoid last-minute disruptions. For example, a 24-hour or 48-hour notice may be standard.
Postponement Fees:
Establish whether there will be a fee for rescheduling and if so, how much. This fee may be based on the time of notice, the reason for postponement, and the availability of new dates.
New Date Availability:
Clearly state how you will work with clients to find a new date, and outline the process if a suitable date cannot be found.
2. Postponements Due to Unforeseen Circumstances (Force Majeure):
Natural Disasters/Acts of God:
Address situations like hurricanes, earthquakes, or other events beyond your control.
Illness or Emergency:
Outline how you will handle situations where you or the client are unable to proceed due to illness or emergency.
Contractual Provisions:
Clearly state that in such cases, the deposit may be refunded, the contract may be terminated, or the parties will discuss alternative resolutions.
3. Weather-Related Postponements:
Client Responsibility:
State who is responsible for making the decision to postpone due to weather, and if there are any fees for rescheduling.
Revisiting the Location:
Outline how you will handle re-visiting a location to capture images if the original shoot was affected by weather.
Flexibility:
Consider offering options like rescheduling at a later date or providing a credit for a future shoot.
4. General Considerations:
Written Policy:
Include the postponement policy within your contract, making it legally binding.
Communication:
Establish clear communication channels with clients regarding postponements and rescheduling.
Flexibility:
While it's important to have a clear policy, also consider being flexible with clients when appropriate, especially in emergency situations.
By having a well-defined postponement policy, you can protect your business from unexpected issues and ensure a smooth process for both you and your clients.

Do not :
-I do not submit images for contests (which can be major disseminators of images online)
-I rarely, if ever, submit to blogs (and when I do I always inform clients prior)
-I do not sell images to stock sites
-I do not upload to free stock sites in hopes of ‘exposure’
-I do not turn your images into artwork that I sell to others.

TERMINATION
TERMINATION
A contract termination in photography, whether initiated by the photographer or the client, typically involves a formal agreement to end the contract, often outlined in the original agreement or through a separate termination agreement. Cancellation fees and refund policies are also crucial considerations, and these are usually specified in the contract.
Elaboration:
1. Formal Termination:
A contract termination should be documented in writing, ideally with a termination agreement signed by both parties. This clarifies the end of the agreement and the terms of separation.
2. Cancellation Fees:
Photographers often include cancellation fees in their contracts to cover expenses and lost opportunities when a client cancels a shoot. These fees may vary depending on the timing of the cancellation, with closer cancellations incurring higher fees.
3. Refund Policies:
Contracts should also outline refund policies for various scenarios, including cancellations by either the photographer or the client. For example, if the photographer is unable to perform the services, a full refund of fees paid may be required, while if the client cancels, the retainer might be non-refundable.
4. Communication:
Open and clear communication between the photographer and the client is essential throughout the process, particularly when termination is being considered. This helps avoid misunderstandings and ensures that both parties are on the same page regarding the termination terms.
5. Legal Considerations:
It's wise to review the contract and relevant laws to ensure that the termination process is legally sound and that all terms are being adhered to. Seeking legal advice if needed can provide clarity and protect both parties.

INDEMNITY
INDEMNITY
In the context of photography, "indemnity" refers to a contractual agreement where one party (the photographer) agrees to protect another party (the client or venue) from financial loss or liability arising from a specific event or circumstance. Essentially, it's a promise to cover damages or legal costs should something go wrong.
Elaboration:
Indemnification Clause:
This clause in a contract outlines the specific circumstances under which one party will indemnify the other. For example, a client might agree to indemnify a photographer for any injuries or damages sustained by guests at a wedding event.
Professional Liability Insurance:
Photographers often purchase professional liability insurance to help cover the costs of defending against claims or paying for damages if they are held liable for negligence or mistakes.
Example:
If a model is injured during a photoshoot due to the photographer's negligence (e.g., a malfunctioning prop), an indemnity clause might specify that the photographer is responsible for covering the model's medical expenses and any other damages.
Public Liability Insurance:
This type of insurance protects the photographer from claims arising from bodily injury or property damage to third parties (e.g., a client tripping over a camera stand).
Types of Claims Covered:
Professional indemnity insurance can cover various claims, including:
Data Loss or Negligence: If a photographer loses or damages client photos due to a faulty memory card, the insurance might cover the costs of re-shooting or compensating the client.
Copyright Infringement: If a client uses a photographer's work without permission and is sued for copyright infringement, the insurance might cover the legal costs and damages.
Defamation: If a photographer makes defamatory statements about a client, the insurance might cover the costs of defending against a lawsuit.
Importance of Indemnity and Insurance:
Both indemnity clauses and professional liability insurance are important for photographers to protect themselves from financial risks and potential lawsuits. They help ensure that photographers can continue to operate their businesses without fear of being held responsible for events beyond their control

CANCELLATION FEES
A reshoot photo session is essentially a repeat of a previous photo session, often due to client dissatisfaction with the initial results or a change in circumstances. It can be a way to improve the quality of the images or capture a different perspective of the same subject or location.
Reasons for a Reshoot:
Client Discontent:
If the client is unhappy with the initial photos, a reshoot can provide an opportunity to capture better images or address specific issues.
New Gear or Techniques:
Reshoots can allow photographers to utilize new equipment or skills they've acquired since the first session, leading to improved results.
Changes in Conditions:
Reshooting at a different time of day, during a different season, or in a different location can yield unique and improved images.
Client-Specific Needs:
A reshoot might be requested to address specific needs, like obtaining higher-quality images for a specific purpose or capturing a different style.
Technical Issues:
If there were issues with the original session, like poor lighting or technical problems, a reshoot can provide a chance to fix those issues.
Factors to Consider for Reshoots:
Client Expectations:
Understand why the client wants a reshoot and what they hope to achieve.
Reshoot Agreement:
Have a clear agreement with the client regarding the scope of the reshoot, fees, and timelines.
Schedule and Logistics:
Ensure the reshoot can be scheduled and that the necessary equipment and resources are available.
Communication:
Maintain open and transparent communication with the client throughout the process.
New Ideas:
Be open to incorporating new ideas or approaches for the reshoot, including different angles, compositions, or styles.
Reshoot Fees:
Most photographers will charge for reshoots, as they require additional time, effort, and resources.
The reshoot fee may be based on factors like the scope of the reshoot, the time required, and any additional equipment or services needed.
It's important to have a clear agreement with the client regarding the reshoot fee and payment terms.
In summary, a reshoot photo session offers a valuable opportunity to revisit a previous session and improve the quality of the images. By understanding the client's needs, establishing a clear agreement, and maintaining effective communication, photographers can ensure a successful reshoot experience for both parties

This term explains how your cancellation process works, as well as any fees associated with cancellation and/or rescheduling. You can also include how you address weather-related changes, which are nobody’s fault but still put you at risk of incurring additional shoot fees if the client doesn’t understand that they will be responsible for additional fees for anything that is outside of your control.
RE-SHOOT
If the client isn’t happy, or talent isn’t cooperating, or the images don’t meet their expectations, and they request a re-shoot, you will be covered if you define in this term what your expectations are regarding re-shoots. Include what your fees are for any re-shoot days, and when those fees are due.

By understanding the client's needs, establishing a clear agreement, and maintaining effective communication, photographers can ensure a successful reshoot experience for both parties

Natural Light Clothing Ideas
Natural Light Clothing Ideas
When shooting in natural light, consider wearing clothes that minimize harsh shadows and maximize flattering light, particularly during golden hour (sunrise and sunset). Choose colors and textures that complement the light and the overall vibe you're aiming for.
Here's a more detailed approach:
1. Prioritize Softness and Neutrality:
Avoid bright colors:
Bright, saturated colors can create harsh highlights and shadows, especially under direct sunlight.
Opt for muted tones:
Earthy, muted colors like olive green, soft blues, or muted pinks can be more flattering and less prone to harsh shadows.
Consider textures:
Materials like linen, cotton, or knits can add depth and visual interest without being too distracting in the photo.
2. Consider the Time of Day:
Golden hour (sunrise/sunset):
During golden hour, the light is warm and soft. Consider wearing colors that complement this warm light, like oranges, yellows, or reds.
Midday:
Midday light can be harsh. Consider wearing lighter colors or clothing that is more neutral to soften the shadows.
Overcast:
Overcast days offer soft, diffused light. You can experiment with a wider range of colors and textures without worrying about harsh shadows.
3. Consider the Location and Style:
Natural outdoor settings:
In nature, consider earthy tones or colors that blend with the environment.
Urban settings:
In urban environments, consider more neutral colors or textures that complement the surrounding architecture.
The overall style:
Consider the overall style you're going for. Are you going for a classic, elegant look, or something more casual and relaxed?.
4. Other Tips:
Avoid shiny or reflective fabrics: Shiny fabrics can create distracting highlights and shadows.
Don't be afraid to experiment:Try different outfits and see what works best for the specific location, time of day, and style you're going for.
Pay attention to your surroundings: The background can also influence the way your clothing looks in the photo. Make sure your clothing complements the environment.
Example Scenarios:
Beach wedding:
A flowing, white dress with a linen or cotton overdress would be flattering under the soft, diffused light of an overcast day.
Mountain hike:
Earthy tones or colors that blend with the landscape, like olive green or brown, would be appropriate in a natural outdoor setting.
Urban photoshoot:
A neutral-colored dress or outfit with texture, like tweed or corduroy, would be a good choice in an urban environment
White&airy
White&Airy
For white and airy photography, you'll want to wear clothing that complements the light, soft, and dreamy aesthetic
.
Here's a breakdown of what to consider:
1. Colors:
Prioritize light and soft colors: Opt for pastels (light blues, pinks, yellows, lavenders, mint greens), light neutrals (cream, beige, light gray, white), or muted tones.
Avoid bold and vibrant colors:These can be distracting and overwhelm the light and airy feel.
Solid colors are generally best:They keep the focus on you and minimize distractions, according to Jeanne Sager Photography.
2. Fabrics and Textures:
Choose soft and flowy fabrics:Think linen, cotton, chiffon, or other lightweight materials that drape well.
Consider adding texture: Chunky knits, lace, ruffles, or delicate embroidery can add visual interest without being overwhelming, notes Samantha Shannon Photography.
3. Outfits and Style:
Flowy dresses: These are perfect for creating a light and ethereal feel.
Skirts and blouses: Pair a light-colored skirt with a soft blouse for a comfortable and stylish look.
Lightweight sweaters or cardigans: Great for layering and adding texture.
Avoid overly casual or stiff clothing: While comfort is important, try to avoid clothing that appears too sloppy or doesn't flow well.
4. Accessories:
Keep accessories minimal:Simple jewelry and light-colored hats or scarves can complement your outfit without distracting from the overall look.
Important Considerations:
Location and Background:Consider the colors and style of the location where you'll be photographed. Choose outfits that coordinate with the background but don't blend in completely.
Personal Style: While the above suggestions are helpful, ultimately, you should choose clothes that you feel comfortable and confident in and that reflect your personal style.
Communicate with Your Photographer: If you are working with a photographer, discuss the desired aesthetic and get their input on wardrobe choices. They may have specific recommendations based on their style and the location.
By choosing clothing that aligns with the light and airy aesthetic, you'll help create beautiful and cohesive photos.
Photographer Cancels :
Photographer Cancels
Photographer Cancel :
If your photographer cancels, the first step is to contact them to understand the reason and explore options like rescheduling or finding a replacement. If a cancellation is due to circumstances outlined in your contract (like illness or unforeseen events), you may be entitled to a refund or to seek a replacement without penalty. If not, you'll need to find a new photographer and potentially seek a refund of any deposit or fees.
Here's a more detailed breakdown:
1. Immediate Action: Contact the Photographer:
Clarify the Cancellation:
Understand the reason for the cancellation. Is it a legitimate reason outlined in your contract?
Explore Options:
Can you reschedule the shoot? Is there an associate photographer they can recommend?
Document the Communication:
Keep records of all communications, including emails or texts, to support any future claims or disputes.
2. Review Your Contract:
Cancellation Clause: Does your contract outline specific circumstances under which the photographer can cancel and what your recourse is?
Refund Policy: Is there a clause about refunds or credits if the photographer cancels?
Incapacitation Clause: Does the contract address if the photographer or a member of their team becomes incapacitated, and what the implications are?
3. Finding a Replacement:
Reach Out to Your Network:
Ask friends, family, and other vendors (like the venue, DJ, etc.) for recommendations.
Social Media:
Share your situation on social media and ask for suggestions.
Professional Networks:
Contact photography associations or online communities for help finding a replacement.
Consider Associate Photographers:
See if the original photographer has a list of associates or colleagues who can step in.
4. Dealing with the Original Photographer:
Negotiate for a Refund: If the cancellation was not due to circumstances outlined in your contract, you may be entitled to a full or partial refund of any deposits or fees.
Communicate Clearly: Be polite but firm in your communication.
Seek Legal Advice (if needed):If you cannot resolve the issue with the photographer, consider consulting with a lawyer to explore your legal options.
5. Important Considerations:
Time Sensitivity:
Finding a replacement photographer, especially for a wedding or other major event, can be challenging if it's short notice. Try to act quickly.
Budget:
Be prepared to potentially hire a replacement photographer at a higher cost, especially if it's a last-minute situation.
Emotional Impact:
A canceled photographer can be stressful. Remember to take care of yourself and your partner during this difficult time.

The Deposit - A deposit is a portion of the total payment paid upfront at the time of the booking. It is frequently used for larger projects such as corporate events, weddings, etc.
A Partial Payment - A partial payment is a disbursement payment that covers a part of the total project. It’s an installment as the photography sessions progress. They are usually for smaller photography projects such as stock shoots, smaller corporate events, etc.
